Alopecia areata is a common condition that results in the Hair loss on the scalp and elsewhere. Many times the hair falls out in patches. Alopecia occurs in both males and females of all ages, but young persons are affected most often, requiring that they wear a wig. It was thanksgiving of 1989 that I noticed a small bald spot on the top of my head, I was diagnosed with Alopecia areata. Before Christmas all of my hair was gone.
